Steve Harris Steve
was born Dec. 4th, 1940 and was raised on a dairy farm in Camp Verde,
AZ. He started riding before he started to school and horses were his
toys while he was growing up. He started working summers on local cattle
ranches until he graduated from high school in Flagstaff in 1958. He
bought 17 head of dude horses and led trail rides for the summer. His
father accepted the foreman job on the Antler Land & Livestock in Wyola,
Montana. He worked for his father on the cowboy crew and started colts
and prepared them to go out on the roundup wagon. The ranch ran 20,000
head of cattle so there was lots of riding to be done. Steve worked on cattle ranches for 25 years and was the manager of the Pronghorn Ranch in Williams, AZ and Ellensburg, Washington and the Stuart Anderson Black Angus Ranch also in Ellensburg. The last cattle ranch he managed was the Diamond A ranch for Ralph Burbacher in Camp Verde. Steve always believed in doing everything possible horseback. After a short period of building fence and selling real estate Steve returned to ranch management at Oasis Arabians in Cottonwood. In 1986 he bought 10 acres of irrigated property and operated a horse boarding and training facility. In 1988, he invented the Porta-Flex Safety Round Pen and began to manufacture the pens and used them to demonstrate his "Touch of Love" training techniques in clinics and private work. Steve has traveled throughout the United States and Europe teaching people to communicate with their horses. He has been accepted to join the Extreme Mustang Makeover for 2010 and will return to Spain in June for a series of clinics. |
